Fingers crossed for a new year
A new beginning with little fear
The past is right behind
The future is ours to find

Counting down the time
Watching the world shine
Pondering the time of ringing
If people should be kissing

An experience yet to happen
Until that time eyes were always open
Something unexpected occurred
A special event unfurled

A fleeting moment in space
Her hands on my face
A lingering kiss on the lips
My hands on her hips

Mouth unknowingly parted
A brief taste was stared
Eyes closed senses heightened
Sweet without being frightened

This should not be over read
To myself I said
This was our first kiss
something not to miss

Feelings that are confused
Situations that amused
Where was the love I had
Burried down deep its not a fad

Knowing her feelings are not the same
I’ve learned how to deal with the shame
As I have said from the start
Its better it was broken then not to have a heart
